Former Perisher Resort boss Peter Brulisauer has been announced as the new CEO of Hamilton Island.

Brulisauer most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Vail Resorts’ Australian operations and has been a pivotal figure in the Australian snow industry, having led Perisher since 2006 and Hotham and Falls Creek ski resorts for the past three years.

He will commence the role in late April.

Hamilton Island Chairman, Sandy Oatley, said Brulisauer’s dedication to Australian tourism made him the standout choice.

“Pete brings a wealth of experience and integrity to the role, with a deep understanding of tourism operations,” Oatley said.

“The snow community will be sad to see him go but we are grateful and excited to welcome him to our island community.”

Brulisauer described Hamilton Island as “an Australian tourism icon” and said he is honoured to take up the position as CEO.

“It’s a privilege to be entrusted to lead the Hamilton Island team to carry on its proud legacy as one of the world’s most acclaimed tourism destinations,” he said.

“I’ve long admired the Oatley family’s vision, and Glenn Bourke’s commitment to Hamilton Island. I look forward to swapping snow for sand and building on an already strong platform to ensure we continue to deliver exceptional experiences for our guests, residents and employees.”

Hamilton Island’s retiring CEO Glenn Bourke said Brulisauer is “a natural fit” to continue Hamilton Island’s reputation as a world class tourist destination.

Oatley thanked Bourke for his leadership and dedication over the past 14 years.

“Glenn has done an outstanding job and will always be part of the Hamilton Island family. There is a lot of positive momentum on the Island, it’s an exciting time for Glenn to hand over to Pete to drive the next chapter,” he said.
