Ovolo has become the first Australian hotel company requiring all guest-facing staff to wear masks.

Front-line guest-facing staff at all Ovolo Group hotels in Australia will be required to wear face masks under a new directive from the company aimed at helping to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The move is an extension of the company’s ‘OC/DC’ or ‘Obsessive Commitment to Deep Cleaning’ mantra and is based on documented research showing a significant reduction in the possibility of catching Coronavirus through wearing a mask.

Masks will also be provided to guests along with information in-room about the OC/DC pledge in an effort to provide reassurance during their stay.

Ovolo Group Founder and CEO, Girish Jhnujhnuwala, said that while he was disappointed guests won’t be able to see the beaming smiles of team members, it was the right thing to do.

“It will not be forever, but for now, we all do our bit to help stop the spread. And when it’s all over and the masks come off – we’ll share a cheeky grin again!”
