Ovolo will continue to give each guest the Rock Star treatment with its new hygiene policies.

‘Rockin’ temperature checks and ‘rollin’ hand sanitiser are two in a ten-track list which makes up Ovolo Hotels’ new hygiene and guest safety checklist, now in place across the group’s hotels in Australia, Hong Kong and Bali.

The group has labelled its new cleanliness program ‘OC/DC’ which stands for ‘Obsessive Commitment to Deep Cleaning’, with each part of the system featuring a musical undertone true to the brand’s musical interests.

Social distancing has been rebranded ‘Don’t Stand So Close To Me’ after the classic hit by The Police, with staff set to adhere to the 1.5-metre rule from guests. Cleanliness efforts will be redoubled, with the ‘So Fresh, So Clean’ policy ensuring guests know their room and all public spaces have been properly disinfected. Hand sanitiser will be placed in all rooms and will be widely available throughout each hotel.

Ovolo Group CEO, Girish Jhunjhnuwala, said the company wished to add a bit of flair and personality to the new restrictions in everyday society to bring some humour and energy to guests.

“It is important we give our guests complete assurance that they are in safe, thoroughly washed hands, but doing it in a way which brings a smile to the face and may just get them humming along to a song in doing so!”

The lobby at Ovolo The Valley will be squeaky clean for every guest’s arrival.

All high-touch surfaces such as light switches and wall sockets will undergo regular cleaning in line with MC Hammer’s hit ‘U Can’t Touch This’, while the ‘Space Oddity’ policy will see all rooms left unoccupied for at least 24 hours between guest bookings.

Staff will don face masks a la ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’ by The Angels and will check with guests on their condition under the new ‘I Feel Fine’ rule to make sure everyone is healthy and free of symptoms. Team members’ temperatures will also be checked under the new ‘Hot Stuff’ rule before each starts their shift to make sure everyone is at full fitness for work.

All Ovolo hotels have rolled out contactless payment under the new ‘Mo Money, Mo Problems’ policy where only card payments will be accepted on a touch-free basis. At the same time, all restaurant buffets have been closed, with guests able to make use of the new ‘Right Here Waiting’ system to order their meals the old fashioned way through table service or in-room dining.

Staff have been rigorously trained in the new policies under a program called ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ designed to ensure guests and staff maintain compliance with the new standards.
