Seventeen new ‘micro-hotel’ rooms have been opened to guests at Ovolo Nishi in Canberra as the brand continues its rollout of the compact room trend.

Following the announcement last week that Ovolo Hotels will expand its Mojo Nomad concept to Australia later this year, the 17 rooms at Ovolo Nishi include 14 ‘Snug Sun’ rooms, two ‘Original Sun’ rooms and, somewhat ironically, a larger ‘Creative Sun’ room which also includes a balcony.

Australian interior designer Luchetti Krelle was engaged to envisage the hotel’s new wing and to ensure rooms included all essential elements while maintaining a high standard of guest experience. Rooms can now be booked under the ‘Cosy Atrium’ room type on all booking channels.

All rooms have been designed to offer guests a comfortable retreat while ensuring space efficiency is at a peak. Each features a Queen bed, single vanity and rain shower. A retro-style writing desk with enclosed mini-bar sits alongside a day bed which doubles as a luggage rack. Guests can take advantage of Ovolo brand hallmarks including breakfast built into room rates, in-room mini-bar, 24-hour fitness centre access and complimentary loot bag.

Ovolo Group Australia COO and CFO, Dave Baswal, said the rooms were simple, chic and compact but included everything a guest would need for a quick overnighter.

“In true Ovolo style, we’re constantly evolving to bring our clients the best, most personalised service we can. In order to do this, we continue to listen and learn to bring our guests what they want and need.”
