EVT brand Rydges heralds a new era with the opening of newly transformed flagship property Rydges Melbourne on Wednesday July 19.

The 370-key hotel, located in the heart of the theatre district, reopens following a major transformation project centred around the brand positioning of ‘refreshingly local’.

The resulting design – a collaboration between EVT and interior designers Luchetti Krelle – features soft tones and timber, rounded edges and tactile textures, and interiors influenced by natural muted tones of eucalyptus green and rusty ochre. Local art is also a fixture throughout.

“The Rydges brand is uniquely Australian owned and operated which is reflected in the design,” said Rydges Group General Manager, Hotel Operations, Troy Cuthbertson.

“From the warm and welcoming styled rooms, suites and new apartments experience that rival the best views in Melbourne, to the state-of-the-art technology and world-class facilities and events spaces, we have created a property that features more on every level.”

The accommodation offering includes 310 King Standard Rooms, 35 Suites and 25 Apartments featuring a kitchenette, laundry, and separate lounge/dining spaces.

The hotel also includes a modern fitness studio with the latest technology, and Bossley Bar & Restaurant on the ground floor.

Technology is a key focus of the guest experience with guests now able to check-in online from their mobile device or self-service kiosks, and use in-room televisions for casting, room service and more.

The redesigned conference and event offerings include 11 meeting areas across two levels, the largest of which is a ballroom with seven-metre-high ceilings and a large LED screen.

While a new rooftop terrace on level two provides an expansive outdoor space with views of Her Majesty’s Theatre and ChinaTown.

“Guests feedback has already been extremely positive and the interest in our new conference and event spaces is strong. We are truly excited to bring this experience to the Australian market,” Cuthbertson added.
