Marriott bolsters sales team

Marriott has made four appointments to its sales team as it prepares for growth in international business next year.

Karryn Cutcheon

Karryn Cutcheon who has been with Marriott since 2005, re-joins the team as Regional Director, Global Sales for Australia and New Zealand. She will lead sales performance and report to Vice President of Global Sales, Ramesh Daryanani.

“With the return of international travel our customers are once again eager to go abroad and experience new destinations,” Cutcheon said.

“We are also seeing a strong return of interest in international destinations such as the US, UK and Europe with companies now looking to take their teams offshore.”

Joo-Rei Mathieson

Joo-Rei Mathieson returns to Marriott to take up the role of Market Director of Sales – Western Markets. She brings wealth of global hospitality experience spanning the USA, Bermuda, Europe, and Asia.

Liza Bajracharya, a strategic sales and marketing expert with close to 18 years’ industry experience, assumes the same responsibility for Asia as Market Director of Sales – Asia.

Takashi Sogabe re-joins the ANZP Asia Destination Sales team after a short stint with them prioe to the pandemic. He has been appointed Market Senior Sales Manager. All three will report to Senior Area Director of Sales & Distribution, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands, Ashley Hansen.

Melbourne Holiday Inn Express welcomes Hotel Manager

Shin Ching has been appointed Hotel Manager at Holiday Inn Express Melbourne Little Collins.

Shin brings over a decade of local and international experience in senior management roles at Hilton Glasgow, Stanley Hotels and Suites – Port Moresby, Hilton Cairns and Stamford Plaza Melbourne.

The Langham Gold Coast appoints new Chef

The Langham, Gold Coast has appointed Chef Rishabh Sharma as an additional Executive Sous Chef working across the hotel’s various dining venues.

Sharma brings more than 16 years’ experience in culinary luxury and fine dining across Australia and India.

“We’re thrilled to be seeing such demand on our food and beverage offerings and adding Rishabh’s expertise to the team will help us continue to grow these offerings and deliver must-visit dining experiences,” said Executive Chef, Craig Robertson.

Throughout his career, Rishabh has worked with Michelin star chefs at French fine dining restaurant 1911 Brasserie, trained under Japanese fine dining chefs at restaurant Konomi, and worked across the pre-opening Hotel Trident Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.  

“I’ve admired the success of The Langham, Gold Coast’s opening from afar and am so excited to now be joining the team,” Sharma said.

“The range of food and beverage offerings the hotel has on offer is really second-to-none for the Gold Coast region and across many parts of the country, and it’s exciting to see the positive response from guests to date.”

Melbourne Hilton names new Head Chef

Billy Palmer

Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street has appointed Billy Palmer as the new Head Chef of its events and conference spaces. He will also oversee the hotel’s Breakfast Buffet offering and Queen Adelaide executive lounge.

He brings more than 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, having worked at the Melbourne Convention Centre and Crown Melbourne, as well as W Melbourne and the prestigious 7-star Burj Al Arab in Dubai.

“I’m delighted to be at Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street. Having worked in hotels and events all my career, I have developed a great love and understanding for them and look forward to bringing this expertise to the hotel,” he said.
