Hilton’s iconic luxury hotel brand Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts is set to make its debut Down Under with the signing of Waldorf Astoria Sydney.
Construction has already commenced on the 28-floor, luxury hotel which is expected to open in early 2025.
Waldorf Astoria Sydney will be part of mixed-use development One Circular Quay, at 1 Alfred Street — a prime harbourside location that will offer guests expansive views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
“As the first Waldorf Astoria property to debut in Australia, Waldorf Astoria Sydney signals Hilton’s commitment to expanding our luxury portfolio to the world’s most sought-after destinations,” said Hilton Vice President, Luxury and Lifestyle, Asia Pacific, Nils-Arne Schroeder.
“Our highly personalised, elegant service and iconic environments are at the heart of every hotel, and we look forward to delivering unforgettable experiences to our guests in Sydney.”
The 220-key hotel, comprised of 179 guest rooms and 41 suites, is the first for the brand in Australasia, joining six other Waldorf Astoria properties in the Asia Pacific region. Globally, the portfolio has 30+ hotels in operation with 20 more in the pipeline.
The brand’s reputation globally for personalised service and world-class culinary excellence is expected to make it a popular attraction in Sydney’s CBD.
Tokyo-based firm Kengo Kuma and Associates and Sydney-based Crone Architects will oversee the architecture of the hotel, ‘artfully blending contemporary living with cutting-edge design’.
The luxury hotel will include two original restaurant concepts, a rooftop bar with habour views, and a spa on level one.
Peacock Alley, a signature space at Waldorf Astoria properties, will serve as a ‘central gathering place’ and feature the iconic Waldorf Astoria clock.
The Sydney hotel will offer dedicated Personal Concierges to cater to guests during their stay.
The One Circular Quay development includes an adjoining 61-level luxury apartment tower and is close to the city’s major shopping and tourist destinations.
“Hilton is thrilled to partner with AW One Circular Quay for the entry of the Waldorf Astoria brand into Australasia, which marks a significant milestone in the growth of our luxury portfolio,” said Hilton Senior Vice President Development, Asia and Australasia, Guy Phillips.
“The introduction of Waldorf Astoria to Sydney underscores our development strategy of organically bringing our world class brands to discerning travellers in key global markets.”
