SkyCity Adelaide has put a major new rule in place from February 10, barring all unvaccinated people from entering any of the hotel and casino’s venues.

SkyCity Australia COO, David Christian, said from Feb 10, all employees and patrons – over the age of 18 for gaming venues and over the age of 16 for non-gaming venues – will need to show proof of full vaccination or a medical exemption to enter SkyCity Adelaide.

He said these venues include the casino, hotel Eos by SkyCity, and all bars and restaurants such as Sol, iTL, Madame Hanoi and Sean’s Kitchen, amongst others.

Christian said the decision will ensure that SkyCity has in place the highest available levels of protection against COVID-19 for its people and customers.

“As one of Adelaide’s largest single site entertainment venues and as a significant employer, we need to take measures to help keep everyone safe,” he said.

“While we have existing robust health and safety measures in place to limit the risk of exposure to COVID-19, public health information and research confirms that COVID-19 vaccines provide the best protection for our employees and customers.

“SkyCity has been significantly impacted by the outbreak, and we have been encouraging our people to get vaccinated at the earliest opportunity.

“We would like to thank our highly valued employees and customers for their understanding.”

He said customers will be required to show their COVID-19 digital certificate on their smart device or provide photo identification with a printed certificate.

Official medical exemptions will need to be provided by unvaccinated patrons prior to entry, according to Christian, who added SkyCity Adelaide continues to operate under a South Australian Health approved COVID Management Plan and is currently restricted to operating at one person per four square metres across the entire property.

“SkyCity also continues to adhere to all COVID safety measures including wearing face masks, physical distancing, QR code check-in and high hygiene standards,” he said.

Christian said SkyCity Adelaide’s full vaccination requirement will cover all employees, customers, hotel guests, contractors and visitors.
