The former Rendezvous Christchurch will become the newest addition to the Fable Hotels network.

Christchurch will join the ranks of New Zealand’s emerging five-star boutique Fable Hotels and Resorts stable following the group’s latest acquisition, parent operator CPG Hotels has announced.

Fable Christchurch will open to guests in mid-November following a refurbishment to bring the property in line with the brand’s standards from its former identity as Rendezvous hotel Christchurch. The conversion process is expected to conclude by May 2022, with the hotel remaining open during the changeover.

Featuring 171 rooms, the hotel offers a variety of rooms and suites, along with a restaurant, bar and four meeting and conference rooms catering to up to 35 delegates.

Fable Christchurch will feature 171 rooms once open in mid-November 2021.

Fable Hotels and Resorts emerged on the Kiwi boutique hotel scene last year, initially with one property in Auckland before opening its second in Dunedin soon afterward.

CPG Group Operations Manager, Ronnie Ronalde, said the brand’s newest addition was an exciting step in its plans for the South Island.

“The acquisition of this Christchurch landmark hotel is very exciting for us,” Ronalde said.

“To relaunch as one of our prestigious Fable Hotels is going to add such a great link to our hotel network throughout New Zealand, and especially in the South Island, as we continue to work on further Fable hotel openings in 2021-2022 in Auckland, Queenstown, Terrace Downs and Hanmer Springs.”

Fable Christchurch will relaunch with a new menu to be introduced at the hotel’s restaurant, designed by Group Executive Chef, Jinu Abraham, focusing on sustainably caught seafood and freshly grown produce from the surrounding Canterbury region.
