Food and beverage management will form part of the new 12-month Diploma of Hospitality Management.

Brisbane-based education institute, Training Evolution, has launched a nationally recognised qualification in partnership with Emporium Hotel South Bank aimed at skilling young hospitality professionals for careers in the industry.

Commencing in February 2021, the new one-year Diploma of Hospitality Management will serve as a pathway into the sector, with the course to offer students training in rooms management, operations as well as food and beverage. Additional skills students will pick up include managing diversity, leading teams of people, finance and budget management and monitoring work operations.

In partnership with Emporium, the course will also offer students one day of work experience at the hotel where they will be able to put their skills to real-world use and experience first-hand the world of hotel management. The course will also include three days on-site at the Training Evolution campus in the Brisbane suburb of Milton, beginning on 15 February 2021.

Emporium Hotel South Bank General Manager, John McIlwain, will give students and behind-the-scenes look at how a luxury hotel works combined with hands-on integrated learning.

“Students will benefit from a day ‘on’ hotel site each week within the course which is a convenient way to enhance the learning experience,” he said.

“We are delighted to be able to offer the Emporium Academy and to further support the hospitality industry with this initiative”.
