Doors have opened and guests are now being welcomed at Little National Sydney – the second Australian location for the Doma Group’s key pillar brand.
The 230-room hotel sits above Wynyard station right in the north-western corner of the CBD and marks the first time the brand has expanded outside of its Canberra heartland. Doma Group recently told HM it had grand plans for the brand, including ambitions of expanding Little National to every major city in Australia.
Little National Sydney employed Bates Smart for its interior design. The steel-framed structure – rarely used in Australia – adopts a linear form with curved corners. Designs include horizontal bands as outdoor sunshades which is a nod back to the heritage context of the city block.
Designs showcase a natural light-filled interior which Bates Smart says has been envisaged as a visitor experience in its own right. The rooftop restaurant and bar features plenty of greenery and acts as an oasis in the city for city workers to socialise.
Doma Group CEO, Jure Domazet, told HM he was very excited to be welcoming the first guests to Little National Sydney this week.
“The prime location of the property will be a real drawcard for those seeking a stay in the Sydney CBD, whether that be for travel, business, or leisure,” he said.
“As is typical in Sydney at the moment, weekends are already filling strongly but the weekday business is starting to show some life. The rooftop bar is proving highly popular with many enquiries coming through.
“We also have a very strong health and wellness focus so we expect guests to check out the great gym facilities.
“We couldn’t have completed the build without our partners Hutchies, Bates Smart and Construction Assignments who delivered on the Doma Group vision and look forward to seeing this property thrive.”
