Doma Group MD, Jure Domazet, shares his plans for the growth of the Little National brand at AHICE 2020.

Doma Group is eager to see a Little National branded hotel in every Australian capital city, according to comments made this week by the company’s CEO, Jure Domazet.

Appearing at the Australian Hotel Industry Conference and Exhibition (AHICE), headline sponsored by Intrust Super and Hostplus, Domazet outlined his ambitions for the brand ahead of Little National Sydney opening to guests in early October and work getting underway soon on the brand’s third location in Newcastle.

“We see Little National as the main brand we head around the country with,” he said.

“We’re aiming to be in every capital city and a couple of locations in some others. We’re having a bit of fun with Little National at the moment and trying to see what new segments aren’t being serviced at the moment.”

Little National Sydney will feature 230 rooms with super king-sized beds.

The company currently has one hotel operating under its Little National brand in Canberra, which opened in 2015. Domazet said the company has been looking since 2015 to open elsewhere.

“It’s taken us five years to get here but the fact we’ve been able to do it in Sydney in such a good location for our second hotel is probably the best thing we could have hoped for,” he said.

“We’re pretty much the closest hotel to Barangaroo so between Barangaroo and George Street is pretty ideal from where we sit, let alone being above a train station that takes you to the airport.

“We’re attracting luxury customers and high-end customers but [they] don’t want to spend too much on their room and don’t want a terrible room. We give them a great room with the expectation they’re going to be spending a fair portion of their money outside of the hotel. I think that’s the big difference between us and other hotels,” Domazet added.
