The reception lounge now boasts a central fireplace and calming pond feature.

Event Hospitality has pulled back the covers on its newly-transformed Rydges Canberra, revealing to HM a major upgrade to the guest experience through reimagined rooms and public facilities.

The hotel, which has slightly tweaked its name from Rydges Capital Hill, has also been gifted with a new General Manager following the arrival in August of experienced hotelier, Steven James.

The George Bar and Grill features a new green outlook.

“With this renovation, our team is looking to create lasting memories, new levels of service and an unmatched experience for our guests, both corporate and leisure,” James said.

Led by Plus Architecture, the hotel has seen an overlaying of natural materials in a tan and deep blue colour, with a pod-style reception area and lounge built around an elevated and enclosed fireplace and central pond. On arrival, guests will also catch a whiff of a signature scent developed exclusively for the property.

The raised fireplace exudes character and sophistication.

The hotel’s signature eatery – The George Bar and Grill – had been revolutionised with a calming forest green environment, complemented by a leafy green canopy, mature trees, foraging planters and a functioning chef’s garden proffering seasonal produce.

James added that the hotel’s owners have made a substantial investment in the property which reflected its belief in what the hotel has to offer and how it can support interstate and intrastate travel going forward.
