Australia’s second Autograph Collection hotel, operated by Marriott International, has today opened its doors to guests for the first time, marking the maiden presence of any of the company’s brands in the national capital.

Midnight Hotel, Autograph Collection is owned by Iconic Hotels – a commercial development arm of ACT developer Geocon. The property is situated in the inner-city suburb of Braddon and features 199 guest rooms alongside Braddon Merchant – the property’s signature deli-style restaurant and bar which specialises in fresh and simple dishes in a European setting. The mixed-use development also houses residential apartments, retail offerings and commercial office space.

Guest facilities also include an indoor heated swimming pool with cabana seating, a sauna and a shared fitness centre also available to residents. A conference centre completed with business lounge and meeting rooms are also available for the business sector to utilise.

The hotel’s interior design features elements such as sculptured, polished concrete along with glass and metal brass finishings. Guest rooms each feature an individually commissioned work from artist Thomas Bucich as part of his ‘Relic’ series of reclaimed Australian wood and bark plated in copper or nickel. Each piece was crafted especially for Midnight Hotel and no two are identical.

Marriott International Area Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Sean Hunt, said the opening of Midnight Hotel marked a milestone for Marriott International as the company’s first hotel in Canberra.

“Celebrating the world’s most distinctive independent hotels around the globe, each hotel in the Autograph Collection is a product of vision, handpicked for its mark of craft, heartfelt design and authentic sense of place. These principles guide the curation of the portfolio, ensuring each hotel experience is remarkably unlike anything else.”
