Now in its second year, Byron Bay’s newest resort Elements of Byron is set to re-launch in October with significantly expanded leisure, accommodation and education offerings.
“We will have as much new product in October as when we first opened” outlined Development Director Jeremy Holmes.
“Sixteen months of operation has given us invaluable guest feedback which we have used to refine and improve our resort experience.
“And we’ve managed to do this with a 3.8% building footprint across the fifty acre site, which when you take into account the 13 acres of littoral rainforest and other protected areas translates to less than 10% of the developable area. Nature is and will remain the star”.
As part of the re-launch, Elements of Byron will have a dozen new and revamped leisure areas including a new adults-only, 25-metre heated pool with swim-up bar and new childrens’ playground. The 850,000-litre signature lagoon pool within the central leisure precinct has been heated in time for the cooler months and this area is being expanded with a new timber play space.
99 new villas are being crafted within an entirely new section of the property surrounded by forest and creek, 68 of which represent an entirely new concept in resort accommodation.
These 111m2 fully-serviced two-bedroom deluxe beach houses are intended as homes away from home for families and small groups seeking inspiration from nature. Guests will unwind in outdoor rooms with fireplaces and soak up the elements in verandah bathhouses.
A new Eco Education Centre will provide a hub for the local community and resort guests to learn about sustainable living including food production. The Centre will be 100% solar powered and include productive market gardens that will provide food for the resort’s restaurants.
Executive Chef Simon Jones recently joined Elements of Byron to head the culinary team. Jones trained under Raymond Blanc in Oxfordshire, England and later worked as Head Chef at Marco Pierre White’s infamous one Michelin starred L’Escargot in London.
“I looked at Elements of Byron and saw the huge potential,” Jones said. “It’s independent and the owners are seriously invested in it. Without a heavy hotel corporate structure we have the chance to create and set our own unique culinary course.”
Guests will be able to choose from five dining outlets including the private Beach Club on the sands of Belongil Beach, which will reopen permanently by Christmas.
Wellness activities continue to expand, with complimentary guided rainforest and guided bird, beach and history tours the throughout the week. Charming onsite stables are a hub for forest or beach horse riding and the range of complimentary activities includes daily yoga classes, tennis, an outdoor fitness circuit, indoor gym and fire pit Fridays.
And in what is believed to be a world first, through separate not-for-profit Byron Bay Railroad Company the owners of Elements of Byron are delivering a solar powered two-carriage train to link Byron township with the burgeoning North Beach precinct. Byron residents and visitors will be able to ride the heritage train along the 3km coastal track.
