Accor has signed a deal with the Portsea Golf Club, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, to manage a new-build 4-star resort under its popular Mercure brand.

Set to open in May 2013, the new multi-million dollar Mercure Portsea Resort and Golf Course is being developed by Portsea Golf Club as part of a fully integrated development incorporating a new golf club, accommodation and function complex.

The resort will add a new state-of-the-art 24 room hotel and function complex that will be able to cater for upmarket tourists as well as corporate events, meetings and weddings.

“We are pleased to partner with Portsea Golf Club and create a new Mercure hotel that will not only cater to the growing demand for premium accommodation by leisure clients, but also provide fresh opportunities to build the meetings and events market in the region,” said Accor Regional General Manager for VIC/SA/TAS, Adrian Williams.

“The Mercure hotel will bring new international and domestic business into the region and add a new level of comfort and service to Portsea’s tourism infrastructure,” he said.

Boasting panoramic views of Port Phillip Bay, the new 4 star Mercure will be developed alongside a new clubhouse, members lounge and an improved golf course design.

President of Portsea Golf Club, Paul Cannon, believes modern facilities combined with sweeping views will ensure Portsea Golf Club is regarded as one of the leading courses in the country.

“With a new clubhouse, members lounge, world class facilities and 4-star accommodation rooms, the club will cater for local, interstate and international golfers. In addition, the redevelopment will enable the club to utilise the outstanding facilities for weddings and corporate functions,” Cannon said.

The hotel will offer Mercure’s distinct food and beverage offerings such as the Grands Vins regional wine menu, featuring wines from the best of Victoria’s wine regions, and Privilege Rooms – an upgraded room type with extra benefits including complimentary internet usage.

Joining an existing network of more than 30 Accor hotels across Victoria, Mercure Portsea Resort and Golf Course highlights the growing strength of Accor in the State, and will be the 34th Mercure property in Australia.
