Hotel Indigo is fast becoming IHG’s most eclectic, boutique luxury and lifestyle brand. Just as no two neighbourhoods are alike, no two Hotel Indigos are the same, and guests are treated to a totally different experience every time they step inside a Hotel Indigo.

Storytelling through design, artworks and the flow of the hotel’s restaurant and bars is central to Hotel Indigo’s DNA and these hotels not only celebrate the stories of the neighbourhood, but they ingrain themselves in the local community. From Brisbane to Adelaide, Hotel Indigo hotels have become a must-visit destination, offering travellers an immersive and authentic experience that goes beyond just a place to stay.

In Brisbane, guests are taken on a discovery trail of the city’s hidden secrets through the use of large-scale artworks by QLD artists including Blends, Bronte Naylor, and Fuzeillear. Once guests have walked through the imposing red doors, a giant mural of a blue wren plucked from the front cover of local author Trent Dalton’s Boy Swallows Universe, greets guests. The hotel’s biscotti welcome amenity is made by a local, not-for-profit social enterprise that supports NDIS participants who love to bake, and its Publico Restaurant is the first restaurant in Australia with a Warayaki Grill and has received raved reviews ever since it opened.

In Adelaide, Hotel Indigo features colourful geometric flooring that reflects the tessellated tiles of South Australia’s 19th century. Pink shorts, pink lapel pins and pops of pink furniture pay homage to progressive former SA Premier, Don Dunstan, who championed social equality in the state. The hotel’s lobby and cafe area’s photogenic, iconic red brick archways are inspired by the brickwork that is prevalent in the historical buildings of the Market Precinct. The guestrooms have raw, handcrafted joinery, an ode to the state’s copper mining history, and authentic festival poster artworks spanning 60 years adorn the guest rooms and hallways, reflecting Adelaide’s title as the “City of Festivals.”

Hotel Indigo is gathering pace as one of the world’s leading boutique premium brands, with 262 open or pipeline hotels globally. In Australasia, the brand has a presence in Adelaide and Brisbane, with Sydney and Auckland hotels in the pipeline. The brand will soon bring its eclectic style to Melbourne’s Flinders Lane in mid-2023, following an extensive $20 million refurbishment of a property that was until recently operated by IHG under the Holiday Inn brand. Drawing on the brand’s distinct ability to embody the essence of the local neighbourhood across its design, dining and service offering, Hotel Indigo Melbourne Flinders Lane will be an exciting addition to the brand’s portfolio and beautifully complement the current Hotel Indigo’s in the region.
