Marriott International has announced three new appointments of high-performing associates to new General Manager positions across its network, with the three new appointments all now in place at their respective properties.

At the Westin Melbourne, Marriott International has installed Stephen Ferrigno as the property’s new General Manager. Ferrigno brings more than three decades in the hotel industry to his new role and moves from his most recent post at Four Points by Sheraton Geelong, with his career also including stints at other Four Points properties in Sydney and Melbourne Docklands, the latter as lead of the pre-opening team.

Chris Johns is now in charge at Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands.

Currently in place at Four Points by Sheraton Melbourne Docklands is Chris Johns, who takes up the General Manager position following several years working internationally, most recently at The Courtyard Bali Nusa Dua Resort. Johns has also held the top job at the Courtyard Seoul Namdaemum Hotel in South Korea, which was his first General Manager posting. He has been with Marriott International since 1996 when he began as the Bar Manager at the Renaissance Sydney Hotel.

Marriott International has also appointed Harry Singh to the General Manager position at its second AC Hotels by Marriott property in Southbank. Singh has recently chalked up 20 years of service with the company and moves into his new role having led Element Melbourne Richmond from before its opening in 2018. He has worked in Australia since 2005, before which time he worked with the company in the Indian city of Mumbai.

AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank is in its pre-opening stage.

Marriott International Area Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Sean Hunt, said the new appointments further reinforced the company’s commitment to ongoing professional development and opportunity.

“Marriott International is proud of our continued commitment to providing solid career progression for our associates,” he said.

“Talent retention and internal promotion, as well as our diversity and inclusion programs, mentoring and wellbeing are all key focus areas at Marriott International.

“A testament to the success of our talent and retention programs, the senior associates’ careers with Marriott International have spanned several decades. The experienced and talented executives will lead three of our top-performing hotels in the Melbourne market.”
