A boutique hotel designed to feel like home has begun welcoming its first guests on Friday June 7.

The 32-room hotel, located in the village centre, is the vision of Melbourne-based owners, and friends, Matt Walsh and Shane Wilkinson, to create a “home-away-from-home”.

Inspired by the grandeur of Moroccan riads, the design, by StudioFAB, Creative Director and Founder Matt Dalby, and locally based Interior designer, Léo Terrando, on interiors, is much like a house, with a distinct indoor-outdoor aesthetic.

The design centres around free-flowing communal spaces to encourage interaction and connection between guests and the house-style hospitality includes bar snacks, Maybe Sammy pre-batched cocktails, and a selection of board games.

The reception area doubles as a bar, featuring artwork from local artist Damian Bisogni, weaved pendant lights from Tigmi Trading, ceramics and objets d’art; and a speakeasy-style Lounge Room flows through to the outdoors.

The Library, an intimate space features low-slung leather sofas, a large open fireplace and floor-to-ceiling bookcases filled with an eclectic collection of books comprising classics, travel, art, design, literature and photography.

Greenery frames the logo embossed pool, which is surrounded by sun-drenched daybeds and cabanas.

With a holistic approach to health and wellness, the hotel’s rooftop offers zones for self-guided yoga and meditation. The hotel will also have access to a Bathhouse and Wellness Centre with infrared saunas, ice plunges and other treatments.
