Hotel Telegraph will reopen as QT Singapore in September 2024

EVT-operated Hotel Telegraph in Singapore is preparing to relaunch as a QT Hotels and Resorts property this September, marking the brand’s first location outside Australia and New Zealand.

Since securing the management contract in December 2023, EVT has been operating the hotel at full capacity. On April 1, the Sunray Singapore-owned hotel closed its doors to commence an full-scale refurbishment project, after which it will reopen as QT Singapore.

“It’s a great moment for EVT to bring the design-led, vibrant world of QT to Singapore,” said EVT CEO, Jane Hastings.

“This is a pleasing step forward in our hotels network expansion strategy, and we are delighted to be working with Sunray to make Singapore the first QT hotel outside of Australia and New Zealand.”

The four-storey heritage building was first built in 1927 and played an influential role in Singapore’s telecommunication history for nearly a century.

It features a neo-classical façade and architecture and has undergone conservation-led restorations over the years.

The transformation by the EVT Design team, in partnership with interior designer Nic Graham, will see QT’s distinctive style of playful luxury come to life with immersive experiences and signature food and beverage offerings, including the Rooftop at QT, and the opening of a bar and grill, with a nod to the property’s heritage.

“QT Singapore will be led by some of our award-winning talent and will be a destination for international travellers to relish and local guests to discover,” Hastings said.

“Offering elevated food and beverage concepts and QT’s award-winning signature quirk and service philosophy, we are excited to introduce the energy and vibrancy that guests already love in Australia and New Zealand, to Singapore.”

The hotel design will take inspiration from the building’s historical architecture and local climate, blending rich colour palettes with bold patterns.

“With its rich cultural tapestry and vibrant energy, Singapore is the perfect canvas for the QT brand to weave its magical guest experiences,” said Sunray Singapore’s Charles Tan.

“EVT’s expertise in the Australasian hospitality industry, coupled with Sunray’s shared commitment to innovation and excellence – having the extensive experience of major restoration heritage icons of Singapore like Raffles Singapore and National Gallery Singapore – ensures that QT Singapore will set a new standard for premium designer lifestyle accommodation in the Asia-Pacific region.”
