Cambodia’s next generation of hotel workers have been given a boost, with AU$24,885 raised at the 2023 HM Awards presented by Sealy Posturepedic for the Sala Baï Hotel and Restaurant school in Siem Reap.

Launched in 2002, Sala Baï Hotel and Restaurant school is a program created by French NGO Agir Pour le Cambodge (APLC) in partnership with Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, to fight poverty and human trafficking through social and professional training of young underprivileged Cambodians.

Sala Baï was the charity partner for the 2023 HM Awards and at the event, a documentary filmed and produced by HM magazine Editor-In-Chief and HM Awards Founder and Chief Judge, James Wilkinson, was screened to raise awareness of the amazing work Sala Baï does.

Sala Baï is on a mission to offer 150 young underprivileged Cambodians free training each year.

However, training costs amount to $5000 per student and the team at HM magazine and the HM Awards were thrilled the industry dug deep and helped train five students for a year and help their families have a better life in Cambodia.

Some amazing prizes were on offer on the night to help raise funds for Sala Baï and special thanks to all of the companies that donated stays, experiences and much more.
