Tryp by Wyndham Pulteney Street Adelaide is spicing up its food and beverage offering with the launch of a new Mexican restaurant and bar.

Mamacita features a menu of classic and creative Mexican dishes, a library of more than 50 tequilas, and chilli sauces from around the world – the hottest of which requires a waiver to taste.

Director of Food and Beverage, Valentin Corchado, brings his extensive experience across Europe, Asia and the South Pacific to the table, alongside Chef Somerled Mackay, who lived in South America for several years before settling in Adelaide.

“The team at Mamacita has done extensive research into what makes the most flavoursome food, picked out some truly incredible and distinctive tequilas, and experimented with the best food and drink combinations to develop culinary itineraries capable of taking guests on a journey,” said Chef Corchado.

“We want to make food fun. We are proud to offer different ideas and have other exciting concepts we intend to roll out, like lollipops we will craft in-house with little scorpions or crickets, imported from overseas. Mamacita is set to bring some spice to the Mexican scene in Adelaide and we know guests will be impressed.”

Guests can choose from a range of margaritas – or opt to build their own – as well as mezcals and other cocktails.

The tequila range includes celebrity tipples such as Casamigos, developed by actor George Clooney, and Kendall Jenner’s 818, alongside premium liquors Gran Patron Piedra and Don Julio 1942.

The selection of chilli sauces – from South Africa, Australia, Mexico, Costa Rica, USA, Fiji and Thailand – range from the mildest rating of 1 to a ‘fire-breathing’ 50 (out of 10).

The Mamacita bar can host events for up to 120 people and features private areas for smaller groups.
