IHG’s Holiday Inn and Suites Geelong is taking its festive decor to new heights with the unveiling of a 4.5-metre Lego Christmas tree in its lobby space.

Holiday Inn Geelong General Manager, Daniel Payne, marvels at the 500-kilogram Lego creation

Made up of 85,657 pieces of Lego and weighing in at 500 kilograms, the tree took 19 days – a total of 467 hours – to construct.

Lego Certified Professional, Ryan McNaught – also known as ‘Brickman’ – and his team of eight experts engineered the festive creation which features a variety of Lego decorations including gingerbread men, snowdrops, and candy canes.

“Holiday Inn and Lego are two of the world’s most recognisable brands that continue to play a role in building memories based on connectivity and creative possibility,” said IHG Hotels and Resorts Vice President Commercial, Japan, Australasia, Pacific, Dean Jones.

“There’s a wonderful playfulness at the heart of the Lego Christmas tree and we’re thrilled to bring a little extra joy to guests at one of our newest Holiday Inn destinations.”

The Christmas tree activation coincides with a Lego promotion at Holiday Inn hotels across Australia and New Zealand, which sees Lego kits gifted to families upon check-in between Christmas and New Year, while stocks last.
