Shangri-La Sydney has partnered with Australian artist Goompi Ugerbabah on an Artist in Residence program and stay package that it says will be a first for an Australian hotel.

The harbourside hotel will exhibit ten of Ugerbabah’s artworks in public spaces throughout the hotel and Ugerbabah will be in residence for two weeks a year to meet guests and create art.

“It’s exhilarating to look at my works on a wall of a nice hotel like the Shangri-La which definitely makes me proud and I know my family are proud as well,” he said.

The bespoke Artist in Residence package will give guests the opportunity to stay in a Sydney Harbour Suite adorned with Goompi’s artworks, with views of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Two unique limited-edition prints – Mother’s Protection, and Tdapul Water Brings Life (Buudala) – have been created for the package, and guests will have the opportunity to take one home as a keepsake.

The experience also includes a five-course dinner for two at Altitude restaurant, including wine pairing, a premium cocktail for two at Blu Bar on 36, a 60-minute massage for two at Chi, The Spa and Horizon Club Lounge access.

“We are delighted to introduce this unforgettable experience for our guests and our collaboration with Goompi reflects the hotel’s desire to celebrate Australian artists,” said Shangri-La Sydney General Manager, Philippe Kronberg.
