Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has added 22 hotels to its portfolio since the beginning of the year, seven of which mark new openings in 2023.

In Spain, Seda Club Hotel in Granada opened its doors in February 2023, offering old-world glamour and contemporary luxury, while The Lodge Mallorca opened in May 2023, presenting an adults-only rural escape on a farm of more than 157 hectares of a private and nature reserve.

The Rebello Hotel, a Portuguese conversion of several warehouses on the banks of the River Douro, has begun taking reservations for its 107 rooms – half hotel, half standalone residential apartments.

Nobu Hotel Marrakech in Morocco saw Nobu Hospitality debut in Africa in January 2023. The hotel features a Nobu Restaurant and Bar, rooftop with city and Atlas Mountain views, and one of the largest Nobu Hotel spas.

Gdas Bali Health and Wellness Resort in Ubud, Bali, opened in March 2023, offering guests views of vast rice paddy fields, lush jungle, and Hindu shrines. The resort offers a wellness programmes designed by certified holistic healers, based on the Balinese Tri Hita Karana concept.

In Vietman, the 127-room Anam Mui Ne opened in January 2023, overlooking 1.2 hectares of white sand beaches.

The latest additions also included four actively sustainable luxury hotels which have been accepted into the brand’s Considerate Collection. Vila Planinka in Zgornje Jezersko, Slovenia; Wa Ale Resort in Yangon, Myanmar; Ballymaloe House Hotel in Cork, Ireland; and Gregans Castle Hotel in Ballyvaughan, Ireland.

Vila Planinka is a 22-room sustainable retreat surrounded by forests, mountains, and waterways. Designed with natural woods, stone and textiles, the hotel is committed to sustainability in all aspects of its operation including through a zero-waste system, sustainable purchasing, supporting the principles of Fairtrade and local sourcing from nearby village farms.

Wa Ale Resort re-opens on October 15 2023, offering 18 beachside accommodations including two Treetop Villas, on a 5,000-acre island. All stays help to drive and grow conservation and local community initiatives led by the Lampi Foundation.

Ballymaloe House Hotel is a 33-room family-run countryside getaway on 300 acres of working farmland with re-wilded land and woodland walks, while Gregans Castle Hotel features 21 nature-inspired rooms in an eco-conscious, locally owned, 18th century manor house-turned-hotel.
