Co-living accommodation business YHA Australia has released its first Integrated Report for 2022, highlighting key initiatives on sustainability and social responsibility in line with the IFRS Foundation’s Integrated Reporting Framework.

The report presents an overview of the company’s 2022 performance across five key areas: sustainable growth, investment, brand equity, productivity, and purpose-driven outcomes.

“Our 2022 Integrated Report reflects the significant changes that YHA Australia has undergone over the last two years and how we as an organisation have evolved into a more innovative and impact-focused organisation because of it,” said YHA Australia CEO Paul McGrath

“We are proud of the commitment we have all made across all areas of the organisation to operate in a more responsible and transparent way and know that our focus on regenerative practices and experiences will continue to resonate with travellers who stay with us as we look to 2023 and beyond.”

In 2022, YHA launched a number of major ESG initiatives including its Regenerative Tourism Strategy, the first stage of its Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan, and its first carbon footprint exercise, calculating a carbon footprint of 16.05kTCO2-e which equates to 19kg of CO2 per guest per night.

Last year, YHA also relaunched with a new brand positioning and visual identity of the heritage brand. This next chapter for YHA sees further investment in properties, beginning with the refurbishment of YHA Sydney Harbour.
