A year on from opening in April 2022, boutique Queenstown hotel The Carlin is celebrating increasing occupancy amid a strengthening luxury tourism market locally.

A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the hotel has welcomed more than 2000 guests for overnight stays since opening, and 11,000 people have dined at the property’s fine dining restaurant, Oro.

The Carlin Hotel and Oro Restaurant – which were designed, constructed, and developed by Kevin Carlin and his property development company, Queenstown Views Villa Ltd – are now for sale but will continue to be managed and operated by Carlin and his hospitality team.

“Despite many domestic and international travel disruptions over the past year, we still welcomed a significant number of guests seeking an extraordinary and luxurious New Zealand experience,” said The Carlin Hotel Founder and CEO, Kevin Carlin.

“We are pleased to have provided this for our guests and are delighted to have been the residence of choice for many of Queenstown’s high-end visitors.”

The Carlin has drawn VIP guests including royalty, international sportspeople and TV and film stars.

“While we have hosted various VIPs over the course of the year, The Carlin is not exclusive to billionaires and celebrities,” Carlin said.

“Many visitors to Queenstown – and sometimes, even locals – have opted to reside at The Carlin to celebrate a special occasion, such as an anniversary or birthday.

“We welcome all people to experience an outstanding level of service that’s beyond five stars, and we provide the same outstanding level of service to all of our hotel guests.”

Over the past year, the hotel has won several global accolades, including the award for the World’s Best New Hotel 2022 and Best New Hotel with a View in Australasia by the Boutique Hotel Awards. The hotel is one of only four globally to partner with the Rolls Royce Club.

“We are exceptionally proud of our achievements, as well as the excellent reviews from our guests on the superior quality of our suites, Michelin Star-experienced chefs and personalised service,” Carlin added.
