IHG’s InterContinental Hotels and Resorts will introduce a series of immersive experiences in Australia, Japan and Singapore, including a NFT (non-fungible token) exhibition.

From March 14 to April 1, 2023, the recently renovated Aster Bar at Intercontinental Sydney will be decked out with colourful floral and sensory installations, curated in partnership with British artist Claire Luxton.

The transformation will bring Luxton’s signature style to soft furnishings, including custom-designed pillows. Aster Bar’s Head Mixologist has also designed a limited-edition cocktail inspired by Luxton’s artwork.

In a first for both InterContinental and Luxton, a collection of exclusive NFTs will also be on display, with animations to represent InterContinental destinations around Australia.

IHG Vice President Commercial for Japan, Australasia and Pacific, Dean Jones, said the move marks “one of the most creative and inspired eras of transformation for the brand”.

“Not only have we been able to unveil the physical transformations of icons such as InterContinental Sydney or the reimagined InterContinental Hayman Island Resort, as well as opening new destinations in Mornington Peninsula and Rome – the expansion of our global partnership with Claire Luxton continues to push creative boundaries for our guests, owners, colleagues and visitors,” he said.

“We are hugely excited to expand the partnership with new and cultured installations across the region in collaboration with Claire Luxton and offer these exclusive experiences for our guests.”

Having first premiered in London in 2021, then Dubai and New York in 2022, this is the third phase of the successful global partnership which will also see Luxton’s artwork and NFTs on display at InterContinental Osaka, and InterContinental Singapore

Each exclusive NFT includes an added rare utility, InterContinental Ambassador status, as part of IHG One Rewards program and a one-night stay at the new InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace, opening in 2023.
