Daiwa Living Nesuto introduces its first Victorian property on Wednesday with the opening of Nesuto Docklands in Melbourne.

The AU$100 million new-build apartment hotel – the 14th Nesuto-branded hotel operated by the group in ANZ – will be a flagship hotel for the brand.

Daiwa Living Nesuto, Chief Executive Officer, Mark Ronfeldt, said the property will set a new standard in the apartment hotel space in the region.

“We look forward to welcoming guests who are seeking a superior apartment-hotel experience in the heart of The District Docklands which is evolving into one of Melbourne city’s premier entertainment and lifestyle precincts,” he said.

The 211-key property features modern accommodation – a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartment rooms – across 13 floors, with each suite equipped with a full kitchen, internal laundry in one and two-bedroom apartments, and spacious living and dining areas.

Developed in partnership with real estate investment firm, AsheMorgan, the hotel has been designed by Fender Katsalidas Architects, and built by Hacer Group.

“Our strategic partnership with AsheMorgan has enabled us to work together to deliver an extraordinary product which further enhances The District Docklands offer for visitors to Melbourne,” Ronfeldt said.

“A new apartment hotel such as Nesuto Docklands will provide both business and leisure travellers with a true ‘live like a local’ experience whether they visit Melbourne for conferences or pleasure including major cultural or sporting events.”

A number of sustainability initiatives have been incorporated into the build including solar panels to run the hotel, rooftop rainwater to flush toilets and lighting/temperature sensors in rooms, which can be activated on check-in according to guests’ preferences.

Ashe Morgan Development Director, Andrew Whiteside, said the property takes the company’s investment in The District to AU$.5 billion.

“We believe when we come together, we can achieve more, sharing this milestone with Nesuto following the upheaval of the past few years is testament to the strength and resilience of this collaboration,” he said.

“We congratulate Nesuto and our many development partners for their vision and passion.”
