Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains has expanded its leisure facilities with the introduction of the region’s first ice skating rink.

The 600sqm rink is open to the public, as well as in-house guests, and is expected to be popular with families, couples, and groups.

“It is clear that families and groups are still cautious about travelling too far, so they are looking for regional venues with exceptional leisure facilities,” said Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains Owner, Dr Schwartz.

“We can offer a complete program of activities for visitors and guests, with our setting in Jamison Valley, adjacent to the World-Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park. By adding new facilities such as the ice rink, we provide even more reasons for visitors to travel and stay locally.”

Open every day of the week, the venue suitable for all levels, from novices to experienced ice skaters, with tuition for groups available. There are also ice-skating facilities for people with disability.

Exclusive use of the rink can also be arranged for conference, incentive, or party groups, as well as schools and other organisations.

In keeping with the Fairmont’s sustainability strategy, the rink is powered by solar energy generated at the property.

It’s the second ice-skating rink to be introduced across the Schwartz Family Company hotels portfolio, following the introduction of a rink at the Paradise Resort in Surfers Paradise.

“It is a massive draw card for all members of the family, and I’m sure the new rink at the Fairmont will be equally popular,” Schwartz said.

“The opening of the Blue Mountains Ice Rink takes on even greater significance for sporting skaters and enthusiasts as the Penrith Ice Palace closed in June, leaving the greater Sydney west/Blue Mountains region without a suitable venue.”
