Accor has opened its latest Novotel in Tasmania’s northwest gateway city of Devonport.

The 187-key Novotel Devonport is a celebration of the natural landscape that surrounds with a range of spacious guest rooms offering city or river views, each with its own mural of north-west Tasmanian scenery by local photographer Nuala Byrne above the bed.

The interior design features a neutral colour palette accented with warm reds and yellows in the leather and upholstery.

Guests can avail of 24-hour room service, 24-hour fitness centre, a meeting room for up to 20 delegates, and have direct access to the Paranaple Convention Centre.

The on-site restaurant and bar, Mr. Good Guy, has also opened, offering Southeast Asian street-food with a modern twist.

The city of Devonport is becoming a popular destination for tourists wishing to explore the northern point of the state.

Commenting on the opening, Accor Pacific CEO, Sarah Derry, expressed her confidence in the region’s growing tourism trade.

“It is an exciting time for Devonport; the city is on the verge of a tourism boom, with several major infrastructure works underway to revitalise the city,” she said.

“Novotel Devonport represents one of the most significant tourism investments in the region in years in the bustling coastal city of Devonport. Regional Tasmania holds great appeal for visitors and the presence of Novotel Devonport will contribute to the region’s ability to attract conferences and events. Novotel Devonport is a celebration of innovative interior design, thoughtful detail and will provide a great culinary experience, caring for guests and the local community.”

Lyons Architecture designed the hotel to act as a horizontal land bridge, visually connecting the Mersey River to the city of Devonport. Elevated on sculptural columns, the hotel appears to float above its parkland setting.
