Accor has been named the Wagestream Employer of Choice (>1,000 team members) at the 2022 Australian HR Awards on Friday, September 9.

An employer of more than 16,000 people in the Pacific region, Accor was recognised for its wide range of initiatives to attract, retain, and develop talent, as well as the flexibility and benefits it offers employees.

Accor Pacific Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Derry, said it is a great honour to receive the award.

“This award reinforces that we have a committed and caring team, who are passionate about supporting and developing people, and creating career pathways,” she said.

Among the recent HR initiatives introduced at Accor is same day hiring, which supports a candidate to be interviewed, hired, and begin working all on the same day.

Accor has also formed new partnerships to support recruitment, including a partnership with organisation Year13 to provide high school leavers with employment opportunities, and has developed the ALL Heartist Internship program to introduce 100 interns to a career in hospitality.

Accor’s Work Your Way initiative, introduced in November 2021, offers increased flexibility and benefits, while broader company perks include travel allowances, birthday leave and sabbaticals.

“It is an exciting time to work in hospitality as the travel industry enters an era of transformation and growth. What I love about the hospitality industry is that it gives you the chance to grow and allows you to learn and develop yourself which opens doors to the world,” Derry said.

“We have many initiatives in our business that create incredible opportunities for career advancement, and we recognise that greater flexibility in the workplace creates a fulfilling and inclusive team member experience.

“Our teams bring diversity, experiences and stories to our culture, which makes Accor a community for all to excel. Our people are integral to our success and growth and I could not be prouder of them.”
