Team announced at voco Melbourne Central

IHG Hotels and Resorts has announced senior appointments for its newest Australasian property, voco Melbourne Central.

Erik Stuebe is leading the team as General Manager. Stuebe has worked for several hotel groups around the world, including almost six years as General Manager of InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto. He is also Area GM for Victoria and Tasmania.

“It’s the coming together of a dream team with years of experience in all facets of hotel operations,” Stuebe said.

“With the finishing touches on voco Melbourne Central currently being completed, we’re incredibly proud of this truly original hotel in the heart of Melbourne. Our personnel will deliver refreshing hospitality for all our guests, and many of our team members have already worked together in previous roles.”

The senior management team includes other alumni from the multi-award-winning InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto: Christine Bridge, Celeste Clarke, Jackie Liu, Ian Lee and Hobin Lee.

Christine Bridge has been appointed voco Melbourne Central Director of Sales and Marketing. She has worked at various hotel groups internationally in sales, events and marketing roles.

Ian Lee has been named Executive Chef at the hotel. Originally from South Korea, Lee has spent nearly 30 years working in luxury hotels globally. His accolades include winning the World Culinary Competition, the Black Box Culinary Competition Gold Medal and Potential of People Award.

Outrigger makes two key appointments

Outrigger Hospitality Group has announced Steve Miller as the new general manager of Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, while Cesar Herrera has been named as the company’s vice president of design and construction.

Miller brings extensive management experience, including as general manager at Westin/Sheraton Birmingham in Alabama and as GM at Hyatt Regency Birmingham, Marriott Clearwater Beach, Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Spa, Hilton Sedona Resort and Spa as well as the Beverly Heritage Hotel.

He began his hospitality career with Hyatt Hotels Corporation where he started as assistant executive housekeeper before becoming front office manager and later, regional executive assistant manager.

Herrera will oversee all capital projects in Outrigger’s global portfolio, while also providing advisory and supervisory services – a role that Outrigger says is key to its strategy for growth and redevelopment in Hawai‘i, Asia Pacific and the Indian Ocean.

Previously, Herrera was VP of development and construction for Mina Group and prior to that, he had an 18-year tenure at Kimpton Hotels, starting as project engineer and eventually becoming senior director of development and construction.
