Leisure travel company Wyndham Destinations has appointed Cheryl Ong as Director of Marketing for Asia Pacific.
Prior to this role, Ong worked at the Shangri-La Group, where she was Assistant Vice President of Commercial Marketing in Singapore and led marketing strategy and campaigns across the brand’s four properties, 19 food and beverage outlets and two attractions.
“With 17 years’ experience in marketing and extensive expertise in brand strategy, digital and e-commerce platforms, distribution networks, data analysis, content creation and social media, Cheryl is the perfect fit for us as we expand in the Asia Pacific region,” said Wyndham Destinations President and Managing Director of International Operations, Barry Robinson.
“We currently operate in 10 countries across the Asia Pacific region, and we have every confidence that Cheryl will be able to further establish our brands in those markets and create demand and interest in future markets.”
Ong will be based in the company’s regional headquarters in Singapore.
Ovolo Group appoints Southeast Asian PR agency
Ovolo Group has appointed Catalyst Communications as its SE Asian PR agency, overseeing corporate communications for its hotels in Australia, Hong Kong and Indonesia and supporting global expansion plans.
Industry veteran, Gaynor Reid, who has over 20 years of experience in hotel and tourism PR, will lead the account.
A former journalist and editor, Reid was most recently Vice President Communications and CSR for Accor Asia Pacific and has also worked as Media and Community Relations Manager for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
“Gaynor is a communications Rock Star with rich experience and a wide network to represent Ovolo Group at a time when we are emerging from the Covid pandemic and looking to expand our hotels into new markets,” said Ovolo Hotels Group Director of Marketing, Stephen Howard.
“Gaynor will assist us to build the reputation and profile of Ovolo across our key markets.”
Reid said she looks forward to working with the Ovolo team to take the brand to a larger audience and put a global spotlight on its hotels and people.
