Liverton has built a secure digital key system and integrated it into Quest's smartphone app.

Guests staying at Quest Apartment Hotels in New Zealand can now access digital room keys through the brand’s smartphone app after the contactless technology was introduced this week.

The new technology is being progressively rolled out in partnership with New Zealand technology brand Liverton, which was approached earlier this year to build and integrate a digital key system into Quest’s existing smartphone app. The new technology is now operational at several Quest properties across the country, with more coming online in the coming months.

Quest saw a spike in bookings after its smartphone app debuted in 2019.

Digital keys will be implemented at Quest properties with compatible mobile locks. The Liverton technology works in conjunction with Assa Abloy Global Solutions products, with Quest’s properties across New Zealand and Fiji using Vingcard BLE access control solutions which can be integrated with the new Quest digital keys.

Quest’s new contactless digital key, available for both Android and Apple devices, is part of a company-wide strategy to improve contactless solutions for its guests, to improve the guest experience and maximise safety and security for staff.

The contactless technology is part of Quest’s strategy to improve the guest experience.

Quest Group General Manager New Zealand, Adrian Turner, said the launch of the Quest app in 2019 was designed to make booking and managing a stay at its properties as easy as possible for guests.

“As the app evolves, we are always looking for ways to enhance the guest experience at Quest,” he said.

“The addition of this technology will allow a Quest guest to access the property and their room seamlessly and especially after hours. This is available now at Quest Mt Eden, Quest Takapuna, Quest Palmerston North and Quest Parnell and we will be working with all our other properties to upgrade their locking systems to take advantage of this technology.”

Liverton Chief Executive Officer, Justin De Lille said he was proud to have invested in the relationship with Quest to build its digital key solution.

“The functionality will allow Quest guests to check-in remotely, access their rooms with their digital key and allow franchisee operators to reduce staffing costs and streamline operations.”
