The band is tuned and ready to hit the stage as Ovolo Hotels today struck the first chords at its newest location in South Yarra, Melbourne, with guests welcomed from today.
Ovolo South Yarra marks the group’s second of three presences in the Victorian capital, following the opening of Ovolo Laneways in 2012. A third Ovolo in South Melbourne remains in the works, however no opening date has been set.
The property’s 123 rooms range from micro-rooms up to the spacious ‘Rockstar Suites’ which are named after high-profile music legends of the 1970s. Rooms are decorated to reflect the days of disco, retro glamour and hard rock which defined the era.
Amy Moylan has been tasked with leading the new Ovolo South Yarra, having been plucked from her former role at Ovolo Laneways where she has played a key part in the brand’s growth in the southern city.
The new hotel recently unveiled its flagship dining offering as part of a year-long group-wide commitment to transform its restaurants into all vegetarian and vegan offerings. The new, contemporary all-day eatery, Lona Misa, is operated by celebrated Melbourne chefs, Shannon Martinez and Ian Curley.
Assisting the operation of Ovolo South Yarra’s F&B frontage will be Jacqueline Rosenstengel, who has been appointed as the hotel’s Director of Food and Beverage. Rosenstengel brings a particular expertise in the South Yarra food scene, having recently served in a similar role at The Olsen, part of the Art Series Hotel Group.

Director of Operations of Ovolo Group Australia, Wayne Taranto, said each of the new hotel’s leaders embodied the brand’s attitude of forever fabulous, unconventional and never boring (FUN).
