The entrance to the forthcoming Infinity Convention Centre.

Construction will begin in early 2021 on the 425-seat Infinity Convention Centre, with the facility to form part of the recently opened Skye Suites Green Square, Crown Group has announced.

The venue, located on the fringe of the Sydney CBD, will be the first new purpose-built convention and entertainment centre in the city since the opening of the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour, which opened in December 2016.

Crown Group CEO, Iwan Sunito, said the new facility would become a place of connection with a strong community feel.

“We envision this as becoming a centre for knowledge and for sharing ideas, a place to inspire, ignite and transform people, bringing alive the sense of giving within people,” he said.

Infinity Convention Centre will feature a cafe and be co-located with numerous other restaurants and eateries.

“Our sophisticated audio-visual and recording equipment will create a future-proof conference centre – one that is purpose-built for tomorrow’s events and conferences. It will host events in which sharing ideas on the big screen to many hundreds, thousands, if not millions of people around the world is as important as the live audience you have in the auditorium, just like in a TED Talk or an Anthony Robbins webinar.

The centre will be customisable, with event spaces capable of catering to patrons in classroom format for up to 65 people, conferences for up to 325, dinners and weddings for 385, auditorium style for 425 or cocktail events for 450. Clients will also be able to package in accommodation at Skye Suites directly above, depending on availability.

An opening date for the new Infinity Convention Centre has not yet been made public.
