InterContinental Hotels Group properties have begun progressively reopening following the lockdowns of COVID-19, with the organisation rallying behind a new pitch urging Australians to get out and see their own backyard.

The company’s ‘There’s More to See’ campaign is built behind holiday styles including Staycations and self-drive, with support going to the short-haul market for Aussies and Kiwis to venture to nearby holiday spots for a much-needed break from lockdown.

Bookings can be made until 31 July, with dates available for stay until 30 December 2020. To entice guests further, a Stay 3 Pay 2 and Free Breakfast and Parking offers are also in market.

The new campaign follows the recently announced ‘Clean Promise’ which underpins the company’s newly enhanced ‘IHG Way of Clean’ hygiene practices globally. The new standards will heighten the visibility of hotel cleaners working in rooms and public spaces, along with more visible signage showing when the space was last cleaned and sanitised, including swimming pools, fitness centres, cafes, restaurants and meeting spaces.

IHG Managing Director Australasia and Japan, Leanne Harwood, said she was excited that many properties were ready to reopen and welcome guests once again.

“It has been an exceptionally challenging time for our industry and while it’s still a steep climb ahead, it makes me hopeful to see travel restrictions easing and people eager to get out and explore.

“We are getting ready to reopen a number of our hotels, and we’re seeing promising interest in regional destinations such as the Hunter Valley and coastal areas in Coogee and Terrigal,” Harwood added.

IHG’s currently opened hotels include the Crowne Plaza Queenstown, InterContinental Wellington, Crowne Plaza Melbourne, Crowne Plaza Sydney Coogee Beach and InterContinental Sydney Double Bay. The company’s two Hunter Valley resorts – Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley and voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley – both open later this week, while Australia’s newest Crowne Plaza in Hobart will open its doors to guests from 1 July.
