Event Hospitality has signed a management agreement and will bring its Rydges brand to an undeveloped wharf in Port Adelaide, the company has confirmed.

In partnership with CK Property Group, Rydges at the Wharf Port Adelaide will consist of 180 rooms, a locally-inspired restaurant and bar and meeting room space for conferences. The hotel will sit waterside fronting the Adelaide River and will be designed to service around 7,000 businesses located in both the nearby Technology Park and Edinburgh Defence precincts due to its close proximity to the city’s high-tech defence industry and associated businesses.

Event Hospitality Director of Hotels, Norman Arundel, said the company was excited to be developing a new Rydges hotel, adding he expected demand to be strong considering the growing Defence and Tourism sectors in the area.

Rydges on the Wharf Port Adelaide will sit on the banks of the Adelaide River.

“EVENT has enormous enthusiasm for South Australia’s vibrant Tourism and Travel sector. We recently opened the highly successful Atura Adelaide Airport and have also announced the QT brand will be coming to Adelaide. Rydges at the Wharf Port Adelaide will be our third Rydges Hotel in South Australia.”

South Australia Tourism Commission CEO, Rodney Harrex, said the announcement was a timely boost for the ongoing renewal of Port Adelaide.

No dates of when construction will begin or when the hotel is expected to open have been advised at present.
