More than $12 million will be pumped into a revitalisation of Paradise Resort Gold Coast after the family resort relaunched over the weekend under new owner, Dr Jerry Schwartz.

Following settlement last week, the resort became the 15th Australian hotel under the Schwartz Family Company, which now comprises a portfolio of more than 4,000 rooms. It is the company’s second property on the Gold Coast following the acquisition in early 2019 of Hilton Surfers Paradise.

Schwartz, who rescued the 360-room resort from potential liquidation under the insolvent Ralan Group, celebrated the grand relaunch of the resort by cutting a ceremonial ribbon and promptly jumping into the swimming pool. The ribbon-cutting was carried out alongside Queensland Minister for Tourism, Kate Jones.

True to form for Schwartz, the event coincided with a charity benefit with a number of room nights donated to more than 20 charities to raise funds for their individual causes. These endeavours have helped to raise more than $180,000 for organisations including Paradise Kids, Mark Hughes Foundation, Camp Quality, Clown Doctors, Guide Dogs and many more.

Paradise Resort Gold Coast offers 360 rooms and a wide variety of family-friendly activities.

Renovation works to come will include a complete refurbishment of all rooms, upgrades to the resort entrance and lobby, new children’s activities including a games room and cinema and the introduction of a separate adults area with dedicated swimming pool, restaurant and bar area.

Speaking at the event, Schwartz said it would have been a terrible loss for the Gold Coast if the original plans to demolish the resort had gone ahead.

“Paradise Resort has accommodated families from all over Australia and overseas for four decades, providing one of the most enjoyable holiday experiences imaginable.

“Certainly, the resort is in need of an injection of funds to upgrade rooms, restaurants and public areas, so I was pleased to announce that we will invest over $12 million in the first two years alone to ensure Paradise Resort remains Australia’s favourite family resort.”
