Exclusive: Parkroyal unveils eco-conscious sub-brand

Thirrteen metres of soaring landscape will create a 180 degree view of a forest at Parkroyal Collection.

Pan Pacific Hotels Group Limited will launch a new ‘Parkroyal Collection’ sub-brand devoted to sustainable hospitality which will run under its existing Parkroyal Hotels & Resorts label.

The new brand will build further on the concept of a “hotel in a garden” of which brand hallmarks include solar-powered sky gardens, automatic light, rain and motion sensors, gravity-driven rain harvesting and nature-inspired materials. Brand ethos include eco-friendliness, sustainability and a sense of environmental responsibility as well as celebrating elements of green design and architecture.

To kick off the new brand, Singapore’s Parkroyal on Pickering will be rebranded under the Parkroyal Collection label in order to further capitalise and promote these green features. Another hotel, currently operating as the 575-room Marina Mandarin, will join the group when it is rebranded as Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay.

An immersive forest treetop experience will feature in the lobby at Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay.

A variety of green features in line with brand hallmarks will be retroactively installed into this hotel as part of the rebrand, styled around the hotel’s existing 21-storey John Portman atrium. These will include a 13-storey green landscaped wall at the entrance. Perhaps the most visually stunning elements of the redesign will be a number of sculptured pavilions resembling bird cages nestled amongst abundant greenery. Once carefully and strategically illuminated, these ‘nests’ will transform the lobby into a spectacular magical rainforest.

Renovations at Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay will be completed in phases and completed in the first quarter of 2021.

Pan Pacific Hotels Group CEO, Choe Peng Sum said Parkroyal Collection was created for those with a sense of purpose and responsibility at heart.

“It demonstrates that sustainability and modern lifestyle can co-exist through conscious design and efforts. The brand adopts a long-term view of care and guardianship towards our environment and community.”

Peppermint, the all-day restaurant framed by glass greenhouses allows guests to dine next to nature.

The Parkroyal Collection brand will also offer guests a year-round dedicated wellness experience with every stay including locally-sourced produce with organic plant-based menu items, a herb garden and a sustainable events program.

In addition, the newly minted Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay, rebranded from Marina Mandarin, will see our efforts to transform it into another statement – garden in a hotel – in the months to come,” Choe added.
