Zest Queenstown will bolster the city’s economy stock and provide a new value option for travellers.

Value-conscious eco-brand Zest by Swiss-Belhotel and apartment brand Swiss-Belhotel & Residences will both make their debuts in the New Zealand market as part of two newbuild properties, the company has confirmed.

Launched by Swiss-Belhotel in 2016, the Zest brand is an economy label aimed at a select-service market eager to keep accommodation rates down while still maintaining a high standard of comfort in a smaller space. Zest Queenstown by Swiss-Belhotel will feature 223 rooms of 16 square metres each, along with 160 pods, each capable of accommodating eight people. Guests will have access to a number of communal bathrooms throughout the hotel, along with spaces for travellers to socialise.

Swiss-Belhotel and Residences will be a full-service 4 ½ star hotel offering a mixture of 194 hotel rooms and 32 serviced residences of one and two-bedrooms. The property will combine modern aesthetics with the latest technology and will feature a number of food and beverage outlets and 24-hour reception.

Both hotels will be built on Gorge Road, around 100 metres from each other. Once open, the properties will add a collective 437 rooms to the city’s accommodation landscape.

Swiss-Belhotel International Chairman and President, Gavin Faull said the company had developed a keen sense for what travellers wanted in Queenstown in its six years in the city.

“The time felt right to expand our offering in the region and launch two new hotel brands that haven’t previously been available in New Zealand.”
