As the big night gets closer, HM is looking back on the successes of 2018 and is checking in with Jade Miller from Parkroyal Sydney – one of three winners of the 2018 Rising Star Award – to see how the award changed her professional life.
How has winning HM’s Rising Star Award for 2018 changed your career?
Winning the Rising Star Award has been a huge milestone in my career – it’s allowed me to connect with different people from the hospitality industry that I may not have otherwise had the opportunity to meet and learn from. I aspire to advance in my hospitality career, and receiving the award has not only solidified that aspiration, but it has also continued to motivate me to grow and further achieve. I’m happy to report that since receiving the award, I’ve also been promoted from Front Office Team Leader to Front Office Assistant Manager!
What does it mean to have been recognised by your peers for the work you do?
To be put forward by the team at PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, Sydney meant a lot. Being awarded for doing something I’m truly passionate about is amazing, and it filled me with pride to know that my colleagues recognise and encourage my enthusiasm. To then be recognised by the wider industry on a national scale has further cemented that feeling. I’m excited to continue to grow with the team and further my career with PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, Sydney!
