Hotels across Australia are in line to benefit from new technology being developed by Expedia which gives consumers the ability to book packages across longer transaction timeframes, Expedia has said.

Speaking exclusively to HM Editor-In-Chief James Wilkinson recently in Las Vegas, Expedia President Lodging Partner Services, Cyril Ranque, said hotels have registered in huge numbers to offer this service to customers by linking a direct booking back through Expedia.

“Historically, a hotel chain cannot book a package,” Ranque said, however, this has now changed.

“We have more hotels using our package white-label engine in their own website to convert that package demand that comes to them.”

Ranque told HM package holidays now made up around a third of its business and further development in this field was coming, such as giving consumers the ability to build packages their way by adding components piece by piece and over a longer period of time, including separate transactions and user sessions.
