Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has kicked off 2019 by doubling its presence in the rapidly growing Asian economy of Myanmar, introducing its upscale Wyndham Grand label to the country’s capital, Yangon.

The new 291-room hotel features as part of the mixed-use 20-storey Kantharyar Centre tower, which also offers office space, serviced apartments and retail, all with views of the Kandawgyi Lake and the Shwedagon Pagoda.

It follows the entry of Wyndham to Myanmar back in 2017 when the TRYP by Wyndham Yangon opened its doors.

Developed by Asia Myanmar Shining Star Investment Co, the new hotel has been designed and decorated by architecture and interior design brand HASSELL. The theme of the hotel has been envisaged as a tribute to the country’s history, with lobby paintings reflecting the hinterland mountains, while decorations including crafted artifacts shaped as traditional vessels, all complementing the city’s red brick character.

Rooms offer floor-to-ceiling views of either the city or the lake, wooden floors and bathrooms featuring a separate bath and shower. A Presidential Suite on the 20th floor offers separate living and dining areas, sauna and eight-person Jacuzzi. An Executive Club Lounge offering breakfast and evening cocktails is open to guests staying on the Executive Floor, along with two hours free use of the lounge’s meeting room.

“The hotel has been built with today’s modern traveller in mind, offering a luxurious hotel concept, an exceptional location and a wide array of dining options and amenities,” said Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Southeast Asia and Pacific Rim President and Managing Director, Joon Aun Ooi.

Public and guest facilities include two restaurants and two bars, one serving Burmese cuisine and the other specialising in fine Thai options. Guests can also access a fitness centre, day spa and outdoor swimming pool offering views of the lake.
