Oaks Hotels has expanded its NSW portfolio with a new acquisition in the state’s far north.

Casuarina, on the NSW North Coast, has become the newest home to Oaks Hotels & Resorts, with the Minor Hotels brand acquiring the former Santai Retreat just south of the Queensland border.

Located near Kingscliff – around a 20 minute drive from Gold Coast Airport – the rebranded Oaks Santai Resort Casuarina is home to 100 apartments in studio, one and two-bedroom configurations. Each is decorated in a Balinese style and feature king beds, ensuites with spa baths, living and dining areas, kitchenettes and balconies overlooking a palm-fringed swimming pool.

Guest facilities include the Spice Den Thai restaurant, private lounge and Wellness Spa at Santai, which offers a range of treatments based around four central themes of ritual, body, massage and facial. Two event spaces are on hand for functions and weddings, including the Garden Pavilion and Lanai Pavilion. A meeting room and breakout spaces are also on hand for corporate groups.

Minor Hotels Chief Operating Officer for Australia and New Zealand, Craig Hooley, welcomed the acquisition, adding the property would make a perfect fit in the Oaks portfolio. The acquisition was brokered by Alex Cook from Resort Brokers Australia.

“This property will complement our existing New South Wales property network in Sydney, the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens and the Central Coast,” Hooley added.

“The North Coast is a key market for us that attracts strong visitation from interstate travellers seeking a relaxed, beachside base and we look forward to welcoming guests to this iconic coastal destination.”

Oaks’ latest acquisition continues the brand’s steady regional growth throughout 2018 and follows its last portfolio addition in the form of the Oceans Resort and Spa in Hervey Bay.
