An external rendering of Melbourne’s second Holiday Inn & Suites in Ringwood, due to open in 2020.

Australia’s second Holiday Inn & Suites branded accommodation is on its way after parent firm InterContinental Hotels Group signed a management agreement for a new-build mixed-use property in Ringwood, in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

The 164-room Holiday Inn & Suites will also offer guests an all-day restaurant and bar, fitness centre and swimming pool, conference and meeting facilities. It will also include 82 residential units.

It follows the signing late last year of the forthcoming Holiday Inn & Suites Geelong, which like its new Ringwood counterpart, will also open in 2020. Further properties in the pipeline to open under the flagship Holiday Inn brand include hotels in Melbourne Bourke Street Mall, Coburg and Werribee.

Holiday Inn & Suites Melbourne Ringwood comes through a management agreement signed with property developer and investment firm Ninety Four Feet and partners Omni Property Group and Hamilton Marino Builders. It is the second hotel deal signed between IHG and Ninety Four Feet after the Hotel Indigo Auckland, which will open in 2021.

Ringwood is a growing suburb around 20kms east of the Melbourne CBD that is home to more than 16,000 residents and 9,000 businesses. It is perhaps most famous for the development of the Ringwood hop style which flavours iconic Australian beers including Fosters and VB as well as many beer varieties around the world.

IHG Senior Director of Development for Australia Abhijay Sandilya said there was a good chance that wherever you are in the world, there will be a Holiday inn nearby.

“We are so excited to bring that same joy of travel to Ringwood, continuing the momentum in Victoria’s big cities and micro markets. I’m also very pleased to expand our great partnership with Ninety Four Feet,” Sandilya added.
