Castle Resorts’ second New Zealand hotel will border Auckland’s Myers Park in the CBD.

Hawaiian accommodation group Castle Resorts & Hotels will double its presence in New Zealand through the creation of a new boutique lifestyle hotel brand currently under development in the Auckland CBD’s art and theatre district.

Dubbed Liberté Hotel, the new brand has been claimed by Castle Resorts to be “unlike anything currently in the New Zealand market”. Liberté Hotel will feature 125 rooms, with renovations currently being carried out on a converted historic building in the Auckland CBD. The hotel will open in two phases, first with 51 rooms and a café / restaurant in March 2019 and the remaining 74 rooms a short time later.

Castle Resorts & Hotels President and CEO Alan Mattson said the group was excited to build on its presence in New Zealand with a new hotel.

“The Liberté Hotel offers visitors a limitless sense of freedom to explore, relax and create unforgettable memories right in the heart of the Aotea Quarter, Auckland’s epicenter of art and creative expression. There is growing demand for unique experiences in Auckland and this project is going to be one of the most exciting hotels to open in the region in many years.”

Castle Resorts & Hotels currently operate one other hotel in New Zealand, that being the 4.5-star Spencer on Byron Hotel at Takapuna Beach, which opened in 1994 and is located across Auckland’s harbour from the city.

Further facilities at the new Liberté Hotel will include a rooftop infinity-edged pool and bar overlooking the adjacent Myers Park.
