After 11 years of operation, the boutique five-star Richardson Hotel and Spa in Perth is set to close following the sale of the property.

The hotel has been sold to Oryx Communities, a Perth based aged care provider, who will operate their new Richardson Aged Care business from the property.

All of the 5-star facilities of The Richardson Hotel will be retained and, after the required compliance alterations are made, the first aged care residents will be received in mid-2018.

The last business day will be on December 16 and the hotel will transfer to its new owner shortly after.

The sale of the hotel marks the end of an era for owners Joe Oxley and his business partner Ted Powell who have decided to retire from hotel operations.

“We have sold the property and The Richardson will not be accepting any reservations beyond December 16,” Oxley said.

Oxley said the owners, how would now be retiring from hotel operations, had enjoyed an amazing time operating the property, however the time to sell was right given the market conditions.

“We have been fortunate to welcome many fabulous guests to The Richardson and Opus Restaurant. Sting, Oprah, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Pink, Bob Dylan, Roman Abramovich, Pippa Middleton, Michael Bublé, Buzz Aldrin, John Cleese, Jose Carrera and Andrea Bocelli, are amongst the many celebrities who selected The Richardson during their visits to beautiful Perth and Western Australia”.

“It will of course be business as usual until December 16 and we would be delighted to welcome guests to our special hotel before we depart,” he said.
