Veriu Hotels and Suites has released the first images of the brand’s new flagship property in Sydney that is set to open in June 2017, the company revealed to almost 800 delegates at the at the eighth annual Australasian Hotel Industry Conference and Exhibition (AHICE) in Melbourne today (May 3).

At the same time the company has also revealed that Patrick O’Meley has been appointed as Hotel Manager for the new property.

O’Meley most recently worked at luxury five-star hotels Palazzo Versace and QT on the Gold Coast, and he has also worked at other luxury brands including Qualia Resort on Hamilton Island, The Sebel Pier One and The Star Hotel and Apartments.

“Patrick is an excellent choice to lead the hotel and execute our brand service culture,” Veriu Hotels and Suites Group General Manager, Shanker Chandra.

“An essential part of staying with Veriu is supported by the local knowledge of our team members and ensuring a bespoke experience in line with our guests needs, and Patrick’s exemplary guest service experience will ensure this is core to our service delivery.”

Veriu Broadway will open its doors to the first guests on 2 June 2017. An AUD$18 million conversion of a former warehouse space, it will offer 64 self-contained studios, each over 40 square metres; and one and two bedroom split level apartments.

“Veriu is a unique concept on the Sydney hotel scene and I am excited to be on board with Veriu Broadway right from the start,” O’Meley said.

“It is great to see a hotel brand embrace the local environment and make it part of the guest experience and I’m looking forward to operating a brand new product in a vibrant part of Sydney.”

The hotel is part of a pipeline of five hotels set to open under the Veriu brand by the end of 2018. Coinciding with the Veriu Broadway opening, the rebrand of two properties in Camperdown (28 rooms) and Randwick (35 rooms) will take place following their extensive refurbishment. Further openings for 2018 are scheduled for Sydney Central (110) and Pyrmont (36 rooms).

The much-anticipated 144-room new build hotel at Green Square in partnership with property fund managers, Folkstone, is also slated for early 2019.
